FILTERS AND FRITS
In gas and liquid chromatography, it is crucial to avoid contaminations. Incorporating filters helps remove contaminants found in the mobile phase (low pressure) and the samples (high pressure). VICI Jour supplies filters and frits for both the low and high pressure components in chromatographic systems.
This eliminates contamination and/or clogging of important parts, such as valves, tubing, columns, and detectors. VICI Jour filtering devices ensure chromatographic results are accurate and reproducible.
For the mobile phase VICI Jour offers multiple filter options. Filters can be connected using nut/ferrule or stepped connectors to accommodate tubing IDs or plug-ins for 1/8’’ OD tubing.
Different filter materials are available, including stainless steel (SS) and polymers or glass for bio chromatography. They are available as last drop filters, allowing all the solvent to pass, without drawing air into the chromatographic system or classic ‘candle filters’ which can also be used as spargers.
“Last drop” filters are available as glass filters or as PTFE body with SS or biocompatible polymeric frits. To cover a high range of flow rates VICI offers these filters with different porosities. SS frits allow higher flows compared to PTFE frits of the same porosity. In addition to the frit material maximum flow rate is determined by the porosity; ie the larger the porosity the higher the flow rate. High flow rates are ideal for preparative chromatographic applications.
HIGH PRESSURE
VICI Jour offers standard SS and biocompatible filters for the high-pressure components of liquid chromatography systems. These filters consist of a filter body which is equipped with a PEEK encased frit. Our VICI Jour SS bodies and PEEK encased SS frits are suitable for standard applications. VICI
Jour filters designed for biocompatible applications consist of a PEEK housing and PEEK encased Titanium or PE frits. Several porosities of frits are available depending on the chromatographic application. PEEK encased frits are offered in bulk and in packages of 5. STANDARD PRODUCTS
In-line filter cartridges can be dropped in any ¼”-28 port creating an in-line filter. Their slim design ensures that the nut/ferrule connection can fit within the port. 3 different porosities (2, 10, and 75 microns) are available, offered in packages of 5.
