The inlet liner is the first part of the gas chromatograph with which your sample interacts, and it is critical that your liners are highly inert to minimize interaction with your analytes to reduce breakdown and maximize the amount transferred to the column. The proprietary, in situ deactivation of Restek’s Topaz liners produces a highly inert glass surface that reduces breakdown of active compounds, such as Endrin and DDT, by 2x or more compared to the competition.
But even highly inert liners will not help your chromatography if foreign matter makes it into your liner. “Dust” and “fuzz” in your liner are active sites and will also affect your chromatographic results.
